Old Tjikko poster by Nicolai Howalt.
The tree, Old Tjikko, stands in a deserted landscape on a mountainside in Dalarna, Sweden, and is considered to be the oldest tree in the world with its impressive age of 9,600 years.
The poster released in connection with the book Old Tjikko by Nicolai Howalt features one of the many images made by Howalt by exposing the same photographic negative onto different types of aged analogue light-sensitive photo papers – some dating back as far as the 1930’s. Thus the poetic traces of light in the poster stems from the uncontrollable silver halides in the Bromega Kosmos photographic paper which expired in 1951 that Howalt used to make this print.
The poster is printet on 300 g/m2 Fedrigoni paper and the text is imprinted with silver foil.
